About Us

MISSION

The overall goal of SSDMC (South Suburban Disproportionate Minority Confinement Forum On Youth) is to reduce disparity among youth of color in the targeted communities.

BOARD MEMBERS

As necessary, SSDMC Advisory Board meets as a full body on a monthly basis.  SSDMC Executive Board conducts special meetings to ensure that SSDMC process continues to move forward as well as govern the day-to-day activities.  SSDMC Advisory Board consists of over seventy members.  As a subset of the Advisory Board, SSDMC Executive Board contains nine members.

FORMER BURNS INSTITUTE SITE

SSDMC is one of the original 10+ participating sites across the United States.  As utilized by SSDMC, the Burns Institute Model supports a three phase approach for reducing disparity among youth of color.  For additional information on the Burns Institute Model, contact W. Haywood Burns Institute.

CHICAGO AREA PROJECT

Chicago Area Project serves as the fiscal agent for SSDMC.    Howard Lathan provides administrative support and financial tracking for SSDMC activities.   

PROJECT COORDINATOR

South Suburban Disproportionate Minority Confinement, Project Coordinator is Angela Greene.
